Should America Allow Sharia Law Anywhere
Within Its Borders?

by Jerry Hopkins

Consider who is accessing the power and treasure of our federal government. Here is just a partial list of the most prominent individuals advising President Obama and the federal government. Future revelations will let us see more clearly the many changes in our federal legislature, judiciary, and particularly our executive bureaucracies, brought about by Obama’s many unwise appointments that the liberal media has not informed the American public about sufficiently because it is sympathetic to the direction American policies are being pushed.

There is Arif Alikhan (appointed as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security), Mohammed Elibiary (Homeland Security Adviser, an Islamic cleric, and an admirer of the late Ayatollah Khomeini), Rashad Hussain (Special Envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference [OIC]), Salam al-Marayati (Obama advisor and founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, sympathetic to Hamas and Hezbollah), Imam Mohamed Magid (Obama’s Sharia Czar from the Islamic Society of North America, named to the President’s Department of Homeland Security in 2011), and Eboo Patel (Member of the Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships, which has ties to Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Rashid Khalidi, Mumia Abu-Jamal, and Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf — all radical anti-American revolutionaries). The list could go on and on. In the future, we are going to see where liberalism, left-wing extremism, and these Obama advisors have been taking us.

Why not Google some of these individuals or “President Obama + Radical Islam?” Even if you discount most of the 1,960,000 hits which appeared in .49 seconds as untrue or exaggerated, the list is an awesome and alarming catalog! Even now, the rising tide of Radical Islam and the growing political and legal power of Sharia law in local settings, some states, and in federal courts across the land is becoming known. The tragedies in Africa, the Middle East, France, England, and other parts of Europe are warnings to the United States. We must not fall for appeals that we tolerate the intolerant! We must not fall victim to claims that all religions and belief systems are “mostly the same” and “peaceful.”

Europe is on the wrong side of history — again. Europeans have ignored their history and the threat that rode with the Muslim hordes defeated by Charles Martel at the Battle of Tours in 732 A.D. The French, Germans, English, and other Europeans are on the wrong side of history regarding Islam, Israel, and anti-Semitism. They are totally ignoring the Holocaust tragedy and not challenging the denials of the Iranians and other Radical Islamist Terrorists. Should Sharia law gain ascendance in the West, many heads will roll, as they already are in the Islamic nations of the Middle East. What ISIS has threatened to do when they take the White House would be humorous if it wasn’t so possible that it will happen given the weak leadership that we have at so many levels of American society, among both Democrats and Republicans. We need to get back on “the right side of history” before it is too late.

One of the best articles on this subject was in the scholarly journal The City, published by Houston Baptist University. It deals with the threats posed by gay marriage, ObamaCare’s Health and Human Services mandate, and their imposition on our First Amendment rights, especially for Christians’ religious freedom. That author wisely argued that the flawed ontological perspective of modern-day liberalism has:

Vitiate[d] its otherwise noble ideals. In so far as the liberal understanding of nature is mechanistic, it was destined to undermine the foundations for the intelligibility of natural law. Insofar as liberalism equates freedom with limitless possibility, it was destined to erode the moral and cultural foundations of civil society inherited from Protestant Christianity. Insofar as liberalism elevates this freedom to the highest good, it was destined to make liberal order itself the summum bonum and absolutize the state as the guarantor of that freedom. Same sex marriage, which presupposes a mechanistic conception of the body and a voluntaristic notion of freedom, can even be regarded as the logical outworking of these philosophical commitments, which would help to explain its rapid ascent.[1]

In the same way, such thinking can open the door, unwisely, to the extremism of Radical Islam and Sharia law and thereby invite greater tragedy. As unpleasant and alarming as these thoughts may be, we must deal with them. We must regain reason and realize the extreme danger facing us as a society.
